Description

"He rushed beyond the barrier and called to her to follow. He was shouted at to go on but he still called to her. She set her white face to him, passive, like a helpless animal. Her eyes gave him no sign of love or farewell or recognition."
-- James Joyce, Dubliners

Eveline from the short story of the same title, in Joyce's Dubliners. I drew this for an English project a couple of months ago to compare how style in writing and style in art portray certain moods and what have you. ANYWAY I finally figured out how to fix the colours, so voila. And this filler is excusable BECAUSE I will be posting something else very shortly!

Her outfit is incorrect for the time period. Shhhh...

FIRST THING I THOUGHT OF WAS DUBLINERS.

I love how you drew the hat and the skirt/dress/outfit for lack of proper knowledge about clothing >.> The wrinkles make so much sense and I love the depth they have too! I didn't have this picture exactly in my mind when I was reading it, but it was something pretty similar!
